TrailQuest ("we", "our", "the app") is operated by Loodus. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the TrailQuest mobile application and web dashboard.

1. Information We Collect

Account information: When you register, we collect your name, email address, and age. This is used to identify your account and personalize your experience.

Location data: The app accesses your device's GPS location when you are actively participating in a trail or checkpoint activity. Location is used to:

• Verify your proximity to checkpoints (GPS verification)
• Show your position on the map relative to checkpoints
• Measure distance to nearby checkpoints

Location data is only collected while the app is in use and you are actively participating in a project. We do not track your location in the background.

Camera: The app accesses your device's camera solely for scanning QR codes at checkpoints. No photos or videos are captured, stored, or transmitted. Camera access is only active while the QR scanner screen is open.

Device information: We store a device identifier to enable secure authentication via passkeys. Device name and type are stored to help you manage your registered devices.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To authenticate your account and manage device access
• To track your progress through trail checkpoints
• To verify checkpoint completion via GPS or QR scan
• To display leaderboards and project analytics
• To enable project sharing between users

3. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure servers. Communication between the app and our servers is encrypted using TLS. Authentication is handled via secure passkey-based credentials and JWT tokens.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties. Your name may be visible to other participants on project leaderboards. Project administrators can see participant progress within their projects.

5. Data Retention

Your account data is retained as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and data
• Withdraw consent for location or camera access via your device settings

7. Children's Privacy

TrailQuest does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.
